Provence was made for cycling! On this vacation, join other lesbians and gay men for a journey back through time, to Roman arenas and Van Gogh's sunflowers.

The countryside of Provence is ideally suited for a biking vacation -- and there's no better way to travel here in southern France than with a gay and lesbian group.
First stop: a picnic at the Pont du Gard, a 2000-year-old Roman aqueduct spanning the Gard river. We'll spend two nights in Arles. There are cycling options today, but you may prefer to travel on foot as you explore this old Roman capital.
Next come the clifftop remains of Les Baux, a feudal fortress that once ruled much of Provence, until destroyed by a vindictive Cardinal Richelieu. Finally, we travel into the Luberon, a charming region of magical forests and ancient villages of golden stone.
- Climb the time-worn stone steps at Arles' Roman amphitheater, its walls still ringing with the sound of ancient gladiator fights.
- Gaze out over the vast countryside from the ruins of Les Baux, a legendary court of love in the 13th century, later the refuge of brigands.
- Cycle past the hauntingly familiar sites that Van Gogh painted during his remarkable years in St.-Remy-de-Provence.
- Browse at the famous antique markets of Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.
- Take a break from cycling, to stretch your legs in an endless field of scarlet poppies.

This moderately easy ride offers easy cycling days (averaging 20-40 miles) over flat and gently rolling terrain for those who want more sightseeing time, and exhilarating optional routes (up to 60 miles) for more experienced cyclists.
"A great trip. Just the right mix of planned and unplanned activities." Richard Tiernan, Shelter Island, N.Y.
"The trip to Provence was life altering! I have never seen such beauty before! The food, the wine, the activities, the group were all superb. I plan to go on many more Alyson Adventures trips!" Sharron Sawyer, Roslindale, Mass.
