MEET OUR DAUGHTER
--

Smiley could have spent her life chained to a barstool, if it weren't for the Gibbon Rehabilitation Center.

Smiley, a gibbon being rehabilitated in Thailand.

Fall asleep to a symphony of birdsong, and awaken to the call of wild gibbons.
Two days sleeping in raft houses, floating on a pristine lake, are just one dimension of our Thailand adventure. Join us to explore the magical land of Honah Lee.

One of our principles of travel is that we not only want our guests to come back richer for the experience of visiting a different culture, we also want the destinations in which we travel to be better off for our visit. This is particularly true of countries where tourism has sometimes had a negative influence.

In Thailand, for many years owners of nightclubs and bars have purchased baby gibbons from poachers, who had killed the mother in order to kidnap the child. The young gibbon was then chained to a stool outside the nightclub, to draw in customers.

The Gibbon Rehabilitation Project, on the island of Phuket, has taken the lead in calling attention to this cruel practice. Since the captured gibbons lack the skills to survive in the wild, the Gibbon Rehabilitation Project also provides a protected environment in which these skills can be re-learned.

In support of this work, we have adopted Smiley, whose photo you see here. We think she's just adorable. Don't you?
