Information:

Venturing Out
A monthly column about gay travel by Sasha Alyson, founder of Alyson Adventures. Past articles are available here, on a diverse range of topics: Homestay programs, GayDay at Disney World, the AIDS Rides, ranging from general travel advice, to specific locations such as Thailand, gay eco-tourism, and travel with HIV and AIDS, as well as tips for comparing gay travel packages.

Out & About
This widely respected newsletter features lively prose, classy layout, and on-the-money advice. If you travel frequently, a subscription to Out & About will save a load of money and aggravation. (And we were saying that even before they gave us their "Editor's Choice" award!)

Destinations:

Gay New Zealand
Here's the best source for a wide range of gay travel-related information for anyone heading to New Zealand.

Gay France
Several articles here offer insights into gay life in France.

Gay Thailand
Cultural and travel tips and background. A site maintained by Alyson Adventures, to be useful for independent travelers, as well.

Accommodations:

Thailand: Connect Guesthouse. Right in the center of Patong, on the island of Phuket, Connect Guesthouse is a center of gay activity, with a comfortable open-air cafe, internet hookups, and a weekly island excursion.

Reference:

Gayellow Pages
For many years, this directory has been the best source of addresses, and phone numbers for all sorts of businesses, clubs, organizations, and newspapers supportive of our community. The website is useful, but be forewarned: some pages are graphics-heavy and will be slow to download.

Activities:

Biking
FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) about biking, and a particularly popular page: how to change a flat.

Hiking and Climbing
FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) about hiking and rock climbing, including advice about getting the most from your map and compass.

Stonewall Climbers
Our rock climbing trip, The Grand, gives both beginners and experienced climbers a chance to summit one of America's grandest peaks. Climbers will also be interested in Stonewall Climbers, which offers trips for men and women.

Search engines:

Google
By far the best search engine for gay-related topics: Unlike many of the others, it goes right to the relevant sites without inundating you with porn and unrelated topics.

GayScape
If your favorite search engine doesn't find everything you want, try this one. We like the well-arranged index, which is often faster than searching for keywords.
