On Sunday, August 17 there was a flash flood that started in the upper watershed of Arizona's Havasu Creek. As the media have reported, many campers and hikers were evacuated from the narrow gorge of Havasu Creek, with no reports of injury. While this flooding had a major impact for hikers, campers and backpackers near Havasu Falls, several miles above the Colorado River, it had minimal impact on rafters on the Colorado River. Our group which started their rafting trip in Las Vegas on August 13 was several days upriver from where Havasu Creek flows into the Colorado River, so they were not impacted at all by the flooding. Likewise, there should be no effect for those participating in our August 27 "Splash!" rafting trip down the Grand Canyon. On any of our rafting trips, in the relatively rare event of bad weather, the group may have to adjust their hiking and camping plans a bit, but each of our boats has two very experienced professional river guides who are trained to ensure maximum safety first, and enjoyment second, whatever the circumstances presented by Mother Nature.
