An active, outdoors vacation with Alyson Adventures.

Canyonlands National Park is home to some of the most beautiful scenery of the American West. We'll spend 5 days floating on the Colorado River through canyons, including the most famous in the region, Cataract Canyon, and have a chance to hike through some of America's natural wonders!

Cataract Canyon: Rafting through Cataract Canyon

Rafting through Cataract Canyon whitewater!

Some 280 million years ago, sun and wind created a layer of sun-baked white sandstone amidst the cliffs of modern-day Utah, and over the millennia, the Colorado River and its tributaries have carved deep canyons through the region that now encompasses Canyonlands National Park.

This trip starts with a day of hiking among the arches, canyons and ridges around Moab, then continues with a memorable oarboat rafting trip. We will spend five days on the Colorado River, with four nights of camping by the river, and a chance to hike through the area where America had its Uranium Rush.

Highlights:

  • Raft five days on the Colorado River, including Class III or IV rated rapids in Cataract Canyon.
  • Explore side canyons during frequent hikes, surrounded by the pristine beauty of Canyonlands National Park.
  • Relax on your oarboat as your professional guide takes care of the paddling and steering of the raft.
  • Try your hand at a paddle boat which guests can take turns rowing.
  • Take a break from rafting to cool off in the clear waters of the Colorado River.
  • Enjoy gourmet meals provided by one of the Canyon's top outfitters.
  • For four nights fall asleep, surrounded by red sandstone cliffs, as the Milky Way arches overhead.
  • See this amazing landscape from the air during a light plane flight from our take-out point back to Moab.
  • We offer a $50 discount on Cataract Canyon to anyone who also joins our Utah's White Rim Trail mountain bike tour.

Is it the right vacation for you? This trip includes five days rafting on the Colorado River in an oarboat, with a professional guide doing the paddling, and a shared paddle boat rowed by guests. There are four nights of camping along the river and frequent hikes up side canyons. The first two nights and last night are at a hotel in Moab.
