Adventure in the Canadian Rockies

Join us for a week of exciting activities in the Canadian Coastal Mountains. Whistler, a modern village set among some of the most stunning scenery of all North America, has miles of easily accessible wilderness trails. Over thirty miles of paved pathways wind their way along clear-running rivers, past spring-fed and glacial lakes, across wooden covered bridges, and throughout this modern world-class resort community. We will bike, hike, and canoe, and choose from a variety of other fun options including: glacial skiing, whitewater rafting, fishing, bungee jumping, whitewater kayaking, luge or Zip-Trek canopy rides. This week of adventure is designed to be enjoyable for all levels of cyclists and hikers. The tour starts and ends in Vancouver so you can extend your stay to explore more of this vibrant city if you choose.

Highlights:

Ride the scenic Sea to Sky Highway and hike at Shannon Falls and the base of Stawamus Chief, one of the world's largest granite monoliths.
Bike the Whistler Valley Trail around three stunning lakes, then enjoy a picnic at Rainbow Park.
Ride the challenging Cheakamus River mountain biking trail to pristine Cheakamus Lake.
Relax by paddling down the meandering River of Golden Dreams.
Hike to the remote Joffre Lakes, mirroring the glacial wonderland just above.
Explore friendly, modern Whistler village, home to the 2010 Winter Olympic skiing events.
One day is free to choose an optional activity such as climbing, canopy rides, glacial hiking or white-water rafting.
End your week in Vancouver just in time for Vancouver’s Gay Pride weekend and it’s international musical firework competition: Festival of Lights!.

Is it the right vacation for you? This tour offers a mix of more strenuous (Cheakamas River mountain biking and Joffre Lakes hiking) and less strenuous (Whistler Valley Trail biking and River of Golden Dreams canoeing) activities. Our guides will have recommendations for those who prefer not to take part in the more challenging activities. With an elevation of only about 2000 feet (about 600 meters), altitude is not much of a problem for visitors to Whistler.

Dates and Price:
We don't offer every trip every year, and no departures are currently scheduled for this trip. Our home page will make it easy to locate forthcoming departures of interest.
Prices are per-person, based on double occupancy. Tours often fill up months before departure. We regularly update our travel schedule to show the status of this and other trips.

Travelling Alone?
So are most of the people who travel with us. You do not need to pay extra to travel by yourself. Prices are per-person, and the single supplement applies only if you'd like a room by yourself. For selected trips, including cruises, we will charge half the single supplement if you request a roommate but we can't match you with someone.

Price includes: Five nights in a hotel in Whistler and two nights in Vancouver (one night before and one night after our Whistler stay), including breakfast; Transportation between our Vancouver hotel and Whistler, and to included activities; All breakfasts, 4 lunches and 4 dinners; A variety of guided hiking and biking excursions among the mountains and valleys of Whistler, as shown in the itinerary; Rental of a hybrid bike (in 2006, a 21-speed Trek Navigator 200); Leisurely canoe ride on River of Golden Dreams; Professional, safety-certified local guides for all included activities; Services of an Alyson Adventures tour leader.

Not included: Transportation to and from Vancouver, British Columbia; Transfers between Vancouver Airport and our hotel in Vancouver; Meals not noted on the itinerary; Optional activities such as rafting, gondola ride, Zip-trek canopy tour; Additional nights in Vancouver before or after the tour nights; Gratuities for guides; Personal expenses such as phone, fax and beverages not included with meals.
