Thailand is an increasingly popular vacation destination for gay and lesbian travelers. Why Thailand?
The Attitudes: The prevailing Buddhist philosophy embraces sexuality. While it's considered improper for anyone, gay or straight, to make public displays of sexuality, being gay carries none of the stigma that is often does in western cultures.
The Hospitality: Thailand is known as "The Land of Smiles," and you'll quickly find yourself charmed by the genuine friendliness of the people you meet, whether in a cozy gay club or a giant street bazaar.
The Land: From the misty mountains of the north, to the tumult of Bangkok, to the placid waters of the Andaman Sea, a trip to Thailand will bring you new sights every day.
- Bamboo. Explore Laos and Thailand: Bike, hike, boat, and spelunk for a wild and wonderful time in Laos and Thailand. From giant temples to tiny Laotian villages, Bamboo will challenge and delight even the most jaded adventurers.
After a flight to Luang Prabang, we begin our Laotian trek. We'll take a boat ride to the Pac Ou Caves and check out the famous upper and lower caves filled with thousands of Buddhas. We’ll stop at Ban Xang Hai and get a chance to sample some potent firewater: rice whiskey. For two days we will hike the countryside and visit small villages. We'll sleep in local homes and interact with our Laotian hosts. The Laotian countryside varies from fields to forests, from rugged to sublime. Swim in clear mountain springs or relax and have lunch beside a beautiful waterfall. Laos is a gentle, wild and wonderful country.
After we return to Bangkok, we will explore two National Parks that are a short drive from Bangkok, but rarely visited by tourists. First we drive to the Khao Yai National Park, known for his waterfalls, and spend two full days hiking in the park and visiting the temples and villages nearby. Then we go to the Uthai Thani National Park and stay at the idyllic Country Lake Resort.
We end the trip with two nights in Bangkok to celebrate the New Year, then offer an optional extension to the beachside resort of Pattaya.
