Bike in chateau country

Bicycling in France's Loire Valley with Alyson Adventures

It's easy to get to know the other travelers in our small, friendly, gay and lesbian groups.

An active, outdoors vacation with Alyson Adventures.

For two centuries, French kings outdid one another as they built palaces amidst the meadows and forests of the Val de Loire. Our trip takes us along quiet riverside roads, connecting the grandest of these historic chateaux.

Valley of the Kings: Bicycling in France's Loire Valley

Here's what previous travelers have said about Valley of the Kings

"Valley of the Kings was one of the best vacations I've had - beautiful scenery, fun fellow travelers, fabulous food and excellent guides to make sure it went smoothly."
    —David Williams, Minneapolis, Minn.

"This truly was one of the best vacations I've ever taken."
    —Robert Elmore, San Francisco, Calif.

    —Ken Perry, Pasadena, Calif.

"Bike riding through the Valley of the Kings is an experience for all your senses. The sights are magnificent; the smells and tastes of the food are excellent. The feel of the land as you bike across it is exhilarating!"
    —Charles George, Abingdon, Md.

"I see why biking in France is so popular; the beautiful countryside, the interesting towns and villages and the extraordinary food. All this in the company of curious, companionable gay/lesbian travelers, too!"
    —Steve Housewright, Canton, Tex.

"Your trip more than met my expectations. Good biking, new friends, wonderful sights, food and lodging. As far as I am concerned, Alyson Adventures is to gay active travel what bread is to a sandwich - indispensable. I'll be back!"
    —Malcolm Carter, Washington, D.C.

"I've been on five Alyson Adventure tours. The greatest part of the tour is the group."
    —Ben Dukes, Cedar Rapids, Iowa

"I had a terrific time. You can definitely count me in for another Alyson Adventure."
    —Andrew Ecklund, Conneaut Lake, Penn.

"Within a day I felt like I was with a group of friends and not on a tour. The trip, from guides to route, was relaxed, fun, and beautifully organized."
    —P.O., Richmond, Calif.

"Absolutely better than I had anticipated. I met 18 strangers on day one and left with 18 new, fascinating friends 6 days later. I'd do it all over again tomorrow."
    —John Zelewske, Mishicot, Wisc.

"Alyson Adventures offers the perfect combination of interesting sight and scenery, exercise and camaraderie, and a leader who, with his discriminating taste, offers the best routes, restaurants, and hotels."
    —Dennis Pearlstein, New York, N.Y.

"I had reservations about being in shape for the biking, but it turned out to be one of the best vacations ever! The guides were superb, and it was an extremely well-organized tour. I would strongly recommend Alyson Adventures."
    —Larry Eppley, Pelham Manor, N.Y.

"There is no question - cycling is the best way to see France."
    —Bruce Lawson, Toronto, Ont.

"I was delighted that I didn't have to plan or organize a thing. Everything was done. All I had to do was show up on time. It was perfect for me."
    —Donald Southern, Los Angeles, Calif.

"I began as a fairly novice biker; by the end, I was proud of my progress."
    —Jim Lipsett, Tesuque, N.M.

"This was my first bike trip. Before we left, I was concerned if I was prepared. The trip was very challenging, but not too difficult. The great food, fun people and beautiful landscape made the miles fly by."
    —Hirschel McGinnis, Boston, Mass.

"Beautiful countryside and majestic chateaux - loved it!"
    —Scott Bulfin, Pensacola, Fla.

"Bicycling through the French countryside makes a great vacation. You see and enjoy much more than is possible through the windows of a tour bus, and you can explore at your own pace."
    —Peter Hillsman, Chicago, Ill.

"The week went very smoothly with every detail well handled. Pedalling by splashes of orange poppies against the backdrop of the Loire river, with a medieval castle beckoning in the distance - I'd call it `overstimuli' in a good way!"
    —Debbie Seaman, Auburndale, N.Y.
