Antarctica Adventure: Most remote wilderness in the world

A voyage to the Southernmost continent

Extreme by any measure, Antarctica is a place beyond the imagination of most travelers. The coldest, windiest, driest, most remote place on earth—Antarctica is radically different than nearly any experience you may have had in your life. Almost the entire continent—98 percent—is covered in ice that is thousands of years old. The largest Antarctic land animal, an insect called a midge, is no bigger than a coarse grain of sand. See orcas, penguins, albatross and seals. Finally, walk on the southernmost continent, a rare and rewarding experience.

Highlights:

  • Journey to Earth's most remote continent!
  • See some of the most stunning wilderness on earth.
  • View extraordinary concentrations of versatile wildlife such as penguins, seals and giant petrels.
  • Glide alongside icebergs, as glacier fields rise up to rugged mountains.
  • Ride a Zodiac raft to shore, then walk on the continent, a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
  • Our bilingual (English-German) December 10-20, 2010 cruise will visit the Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands, and offers optional camping on the ice, kayaking and a walking expedition on the ice.
  • Travel on the m/v Plancius, totally rebuilt in 2009, and operated by Oceanwide Expeditions, the 2009 World Travel Award winner for Polar Expeditions.
  • Enjoy this once in a lifetime trek with a friendly group of gay men, lesbians and friends. (Please note that this is not a charter, so our group will be among other passengers on this 110-passenger ship.)
  • Please note that a portion of your deposit representing 10% of your cruise cost is non-refundable from one week after deposit.

Is it the right vacation for you? Antarctica is a challenging and remote destination. You should be physically fit and ready to deal with uncertain weather and seas, able to hike comfortably and able to deal with extremes in temperature.
