Overview
Scuba diving never gets better than this: A friendly gay group on our own liveaboard boat, exploring the underwater world of Australia's Great Barrier Reef. |
|
Scuba dive on the Great Barrier Reef, from a liveaboard dive boat. Any diver will tell you: There's no better scuba diving destination than Australia's Great Barrier Reef. Here, off the eastern coast of Queensland, lies a coral reef alive with a magic all its own: giant humpback whales, beady-eyed sharks, graceful sponges, and a vast array of other life. We begin with a night in the town of Cairns. The next day we board the Nimrod Explorer, a liveaboard boat with an experienced crew of 6. Because we're on a liveaboard boat all week, we can visit pristine dive sites inaccessible to land-based dive boats. Our itinerary could vary based on weather conditions, but generally we can count on time exploring the sites along the Ribbon Reefs. We'll also visit the world-famous Cod Hole, considered among the Reef's top dive spots and home to a family of huge potato cod, which range in size from 50 to 120 pounds.. Highlights:
