Australia: What better way to escape winter in the northern hemisphere,
than to go Down Under, where it's summer?
And what better country than Australia, with its friendly, down-to-earth
populace, a vibrant gay community, on a continent as big as the 48 states, and
with just as much variety. From the beaches of Sydney Harbour to the cliffs of the Blue Mountains to the underwater world of the Great Barrier Reef, here's what we've got in store:
- Boomerang!. An adventure vacation in Australia: In the middle of Northern Hemisphere winter, bask in two weeks of Australian sunshine. We've put together a trip that highlights five unique aspects of this spectacular continent.
We begin at one of Sydney's finest beaches, recovering from jetlag. Then come three days of hiking, rappelling, and other adventures in the lush Blue Mountains, close to the continent's unique wildlife. Back in Sydney, we'll have five days full of options: harbor cruises, theater, great restaurants, a lively gay district, museums, the famous Opera House, and vast botanical gardens, followed by the extravagant Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras. We end our trip with a relaxing stay in seaside condos, plus snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef (with an opportunity for diving) and rafting along a beautiful river through the rainforest.
- Tasmania: Top to Bottom. Hike, bike, kayak Tasmania: Tasmania is packed with spectacular landscapes, ancient forests, beautiful ocean beaches and ice-carved highlands. The heart-shaped island off Australia's southeast coast is bursting with ecological diversity and is the perfect place for outdoor adventures. From Cradle Mountain National Park with its amazing peaks, gorges, tarns and moorlands to historic Launceston, one of Australia's oldest cities, there is a remarkable wealth of natural riches to explore. We'll hike, bike, kayak and revel in the splendor of iconic scenes in inspiring settings. Starting in Launceston and ending in Hobart, our eleven-day adventure offers a big Tasmanian bite out of the untouched wonders of this island on the edge of the world.
