Overview
Mountain biking offers the best way to handle Iceland's varied and exciting terrain, from black deserts of volcanic sand to lush valleys and hot springs. |
|
This vacation offers new scenery every day, from waterfalls to geysers Iceland's unique landscape ranges from rainbow-shrouded waterfalls, deep in the lush wilderness, to lava fields where the first astronauts practiced their moon-walking, to steaming geysers and hot springs. Jules Verne's adventurers set out from Iceland on their Journey to the Center of the Earth, and while we'll travel mostly above ground, mountain biking in the South Highlands region will often leave us feeling like one of Verne's explorers. Five days on mountain bikes take us amidst the colorful mountains, to rivers naturally warmed underground, and along the base of Heklas, a volcano that erupted as recently as 2000. At either end of the trip, there's time to enjoy the lively capital of Reykjavik. .Highlights:
